3D Printing
Formartis adopt different 3D printing technologies based on the geometry, details and use of the desired object that has to be created:
FDM or FFF (Fused Deposition Modeling o Fused Filament Fabrication) : a thermoplastic filament spool supplies material to a heated extrusion nozzle, which is moved through coordinates while depositing a layer of material on the print bed. This operation is repeated layer after layer until printing is complete.
MJM (Multi Jet Modelling) : allows the creation of the model through the deposition of layers of UV rays sensitive thermopolymers drops. Using UV lamps rays the material is hardened and the object shape is created.
SLA (StereoLithography Apparatus) : the printing platform is immersed in a resin tank with a transparent bottom until leaving a space of the same height of the desired thickness of the layer between the platform itself and the bottom of the tank. A laser is than pointed in the direction of two mirror galvanometers, which direct the light towards the correct coordinates on the surface of a series of mirrors, which reflect the light upward through the bottom of the tank and cures the layer of resin. The cured layer, sticked to the printing platform, is then separated from the transparent bottom of the tank and moved upward of an high equal to the thickness of the next layer to let fresh resin flow underneath. The process is repeated until the printing is complete.
